چکیده

This study examines the cognitive information processes that Turkish advanced non-native speakers of English employ in assigning referents this and reading production. We predicted these would assign relation to linear distance between discourse-linked anaphors their discourse (i.e., based on spatial-temporal features that), which means they prefer for a referent mentioned proximal chunk text distal chunk. also readers not focusing that. tested our predictions two eye- tracking experiments one sentence-completion experiment. L2 learners’ on- line reference resolution was different from native were previous study. In eye-tracking experiments, learners did show evidence using recency strategy resolve referential ambiguity use spatial- temporal or referents. On other hand, sentence- completion experiment, effect prominence structure qualitatively similar speakers, but indexing degree focus different. Our results suggest difference is due L1 interference.
